Production Narrative

Some design production for JAB10 was completed as part of a Djerassi Artist Residency, Woodside, CA, August, 1998 Part of the design production completed at JAB World Headquarters. If everything goes as planned JAB10 was imageset and offset printed (on Mohawk Superfine) at the Center for Editions, Purchase College SUNY, Sept. & Oct. 1998. Approx. 600 copies The front and back covers were designed and letterpress printed by Emily McVarish in her San Francisco, California studio. The inside covers were designed and letterpress printed with photo polymer plates by Brad Freeman. Published, designed and printed by Brad Freeman.

Design Features
typographic: Overall, the text is presented in a two-column format with traditional use of font size and weight to call attention to particular passages within the articles.
imagery: Contains several examples of the works discussed in the various articles. The exterior cover was designed and letterpress printed by Emily McVarish. The interior cover was designed and letterpress printed by Brad Freeman. The colophon features a photograph of David Drucker as the JAB Repo Man.
graphical: Traditional two column format with illustrative images. JAB10 features a table of contents on the inside front cover.
