Design Features
typographic: Type appears only on the book's cover; the rest is all image.
imagery: Images of empty natural landscapes in the book's first pages eventually move toward images of human, urban landscapes; images of animals move into images of people hunting, then at war.
graphical: For the most part, the spreads feature a single color; as the book goes on, geometric patterns of color begin to take over the pages.
turnings: The book's gutter allows the images from one spread to intrude upon the images from another, to strong effect.
development: The color patterns become ever more fragmented, eventually yielding to the visually cacaphonous swirl of the back cover.
